Strategic Performance Group, LLC (SPG) has completed a wide variety of feasibility studies for clients. To provide some perspective about our capabilities and diversified interests, the following list describes projects that are representative of our capabilities. Projects and services undertaken by SPG have lasted from a few days to several months. Our clients represent all types of organizations including large corporations, medium size companies, entrepreneurial start-ups, and non-profit organizations.

  • A start-up company in the aluminum industry was seeking to validate its assumptions regarding the construction of a 200,000+ sq. ft. facility. As part of the feasibility study SPG performed a SWOT analysis and interviewed the CEO’s of prospective companies that would be purchasing the finished billets. As a result of the feasibility study the bank granted the required financing and the plant was built. The company has successfully entered the marketplace and is operating profitably.
  • A live music theater was being considered for development with guaranteed loan backing by a governmental agency provided an independent feasibility study was completed. SPG prepared the feasibility study consisting of five key components, economic, market, financial, technical and management, resulting in a recommendation to move forward with the $8 million project.
  • Established company providing independent living facilities to its market was seeking to enter the assisted living market. With our assistance a market feasibility study was completed that provided 5-year market projections for the area including a summary of demographics for the mature market. A survey of other assisted living facilities in the area was conducted in order to ascertain facility occupancy rates, pricing structure, years in business, waiting lists, etc. As a result of our analysis the company moved forward and constructed a 100-unit assisted living facility.
  • Before the lending institution would provide the financing for the construction of an amateur sports center along with fitness center a feasibility study was required. With SPG’s assistance a review of sports participation among youths and adults, demographic trends in the target market, analysis of industry financial ratios, etc. were prepared, resulting in a recommendation to move forward with the project.
  • Entrepreneur wanted to determine the feasibility of establishing a bowling center in a large Southwestern state. With our assistance, an assessment of the bowling industry including growth trends, profitability and key operating ratios were assessed. In addition, demographics for the target market area were analyzed along with 5 year projections of population, household income, etc. Our conclusions and recommendations included a GO / NO GO decision which led to the client acquiring the necessary financing for the project.
  • Established precast concrete manufacturing company was seeking to build a satellite plant in a new market. With our assistance, a comprehensive market feasibility study was conducted in the proposed market to determine current usage levels for precast concrete, customer satisfaction with existing suppliers to assess competitor strengths and weaknesses and identify current marketing efforts by suppliers. A total of 300 architects, structural engineers and general contractors were interviewed to gain a better understanding of the market place and gauge their level of interest in having a new supplier enter the market.
  • Comprehensive market feasibility study was completed for a start-up company entering the remote auto diagnostics and telematics industry. Report included strengths and weaknesses of each competitor, product features, pricing, distribution channels used, marketing strategies, sales coverage, market share, etc. The report was used by client to access venture capital markets.
  • A very large U.S. Government agency was seeking to determine the feasibility of making a major change in the way the public was reporting information to the agency. With our assistance, a “test’ was conducted to determine the efficiencies of the proposed change. As a result, an overhaul of the reporting process led to major productivity improvements.
  • Start-up company was seeking to establish a gas station with convenience store. In order to obtain bank financing an independent third party feasibility was required. SPG assessed key drives profit margins and financial rations within the industry. Secondly, market demand and competition were assessed along with identifying average household expenditures spent on food, grocery, cigarettes, beer, etc,. at convenience stores within the target market area. Based on our recommendation, the venture received funding leading to the successful implementation of the business plan.
  • Big “10” university was seeking to explore the market feasibility for offering a program that could be used by those in the construction trade to fulfill their annual requirements for continuing education. With SPG’s assistance, telephone interviews were conducted with the “trade” to determine the extent that programs offered by other training organizations and builders’ associations could be improved. As part of the feasibility study, SPG conducted an online survey of over 1,500 homeowners throughout the country to assess construction features that affected homebuyer’s selection of one homebuilder over another. As a result of the surveys, performance gaps were identified and a program was tailored to meet specific standards for success.
  • Start-up organization developed a biopesticide used to reduce/eliminate root rot in corn. With our assistance comprehensive interviews were conducted within the seed corn industry to gauge interest level in the concept. This information from the feasibility study was subsequently used to obtain venture capital funding resulting in the successful commercialization of the patented product.
  • Start-up entrepreneur wanted to determine the market feasibility that his patented software product would be of interest to computer and video game players prior to launching the product. With SPG’s assistance a national market survey was conducted of this hard to reach demographic profile. Results from the market feasibility study were used as a basis for starting up operations.
  • A community college was seeking to establish a culinary arts program at its school and wanted to have a feasibility study conducted prior to making any investments. SPG conducted the feasibility study that consisted of a review of similar programs in its target market including enrollment trends, tuition, etc. In addition, interviews were conducted with the Directors of Guidance at a dozen high schools to ascertain interest and demand among students for a career in culinary arts. Restaurateurs were interviewed to assess their interest, not only in providing internships, but also in hiring graduates of the school. Based on our study a decision was made to move forward with establishing the program.
  • An entrepreneur with two U. S. patents on a unique way of processing whole grains was seeking a market feasibility study and a business plan to acquire funds for the new business venture. With SPG’s assistance a market feasibility study was completed recommending a GO decision. A business plan was developed by SPG and used for venture financing. Subsequently, the SPG principal was elected to the Board of Directors.
  • Entrepreneur requested that SPG investigate the market feasibility for establishing an upscale athletic club and sports performance training center. An assessment of the athletic club industry including trends over a 20 year period were included along with a competitor analysis of clubs within the desired location. In addition, over 100 interviews were conducted with prospective members to assess amenities and programs and interest level in joining an upscale athletic club.  The market feasibility study was used to develop a comprehensive business plan for acquiring financing for the project.
  • Entrepreneur wanted a feasibility study to gauge consumer reaction to a new type of mortgage instrument that he had developed and patented. With SPG’s assistance a survey was developed to gauge interest in the product. An online survey consisting of responses from over 1,500 respondents throughout the United States resulted in a decision to move forward with the next stage of business development. A presentation package was developed and shown to potential lenders resulting in the market introduction of the new mortgage instrument.
  • Industrial manufacturer with revenues of over $1 billion wanted an objective third party assessment of a product manufactured by one of its divisions. This included growth trends, market share analysis, key drivers, strengths and weaknesses, etc. Options under consideration by the parent company included investing over $1 million in new equipment, divesting the division or acquiring related products to complement its existing line. A market feasibility study entailed interviews with over 150 industry sources including industry experts, trade associations, competitors, distributors and users of the product. SPG recommended the capital investment of $1 million. A year later the company contacted SPG again and wanted another independent review to assess spending an additional $2 million on equipment. SPG completed its review and recommended the purchase of $2 million worth of equipment. The recommendation was implemented resulting in the highest ROI in company history.
  • Entrepreneur was seeking to establish a sporting related business in Spain. With our assistance a feasibility study was conducted of Americans to ascertain the interest level. An on line market survey was conducted of 350 Americans targeting specific profile characteristics. The results of the market survey indicated a significant interest in the proposed business leading to the development of a business plan to acquire $3 million of financing for the project.
  • European-based client was seeking to enter a segment of the U.S. prepared deli salad market. The feasibility study included an in-depth review of growth trends including market shares for key competitors. Study included a review of all competitors, their strengths and weaknesses. Study included go/no go decision, formulation of market entry strategy and identification of prospective customers.
  • Community college was seeking to explore the feasibility of developing an adult learner curriculum. With SPG’s assistance a market survey was conducted of prospective students to determine interest levels in several programs, online vs. classroom options, scheduling preferences, etc. Based on the comprehensive feasibility study a decision was made to move forward with a program designed specifically for the adult learner market segment.
  • California entrepreneur was seeking to open an upscale restaurant in Los Angeles. Along with a business plan, the lending institution was seeking a market feasibility study from an independent 3rd party. Based on an extensive review of the demographics (current and 5 year projections) in the target market and an assessment of the competition, SPG recommended that the area could support a restaurant of this type and a decision was made to move forward with the multi million dollar project.
  • Leading manufacturer of office furniture computer accessories wanted an independent market assessment and feasibility study of the potential market for its product application in the healthcare industry. After conducting over 300 interviews within the industry, we recommended that the client commit significant capital investment to the project. As a result, sales volume targets were exceeded.
  • Company was seeking to gain access into the retail and foodservice industry with two innovative food products. After a thorough market identification and feasibility study representing interviews with over 200 prospective purchasers, a marketing plan was developed. Specific strategies were formulated to address market opportunities previously identified resulting in successful introduction of the product to food retailers, foodservice operators and caterers.
  • Company was seeking to launch a new product into the consumer market. As part of the feasibility study, SPG conducted an online market survey of a representative group of 1,500 adults throughout the U.S. Of primary importance was to gauge the interest level for the product and the price points that were most likely to attract sufficient sales volume to exceed the break even point. Upon the completion of the feasibility study the client requested that SPG develop a business plan complete with 5 year projections for sales volume leading to the successful launch of the product.
  • Comprehensive market feasibility study of the elk meat industry for a cooperative comprised of over 250 members. Industry size, growth trends, price structure, export markets, etc. were identified and strategies developed to pursue areas of opportunity.
  • Entrepreneur with a novel idea for generating potable water for sale to consumer markets was seeking to validate assumptions and calculate potential revenues along with associated operating costs. The feasibility study was used as a basis of persuading investors to fund the project.
  • College was seeking to determine the feasibility of opening a satellite campus. With SPG’s assistance a market survey of prospective students was conducted as part of the feasibility study, revealing an opportunity for the school to expand without cannibalizing its existing enrollment. Courses of interest to prospective students were identified as part of the study and the school moved forward with the selection of a specific site for the satellite campus.
